Question given to students: An enzyme's reaction rate climbs with temperature, peaks, then falls off sharply. Explain what is happening at the molecular level across that whole range, and predict what a graph of rate versus temperature looks like past the peak.

What the studio read from Jordan's page

Jordan Vega — Enzyme lab, Q3 As temp goes up the molecules move faster so they bump into the active site more often and the rate goes up. But after the best temp (the optimum) the heat shakes the enzyme so hard the active site changes shape — it denatures — and the substrate cant fit anymore. So the graph goes up to a peak then drops fast, and it doesnt come back down slow like it went up, it falls off a cliff because once the shape is wrecked its wrecked.
