This Privacy Policy explains what personal information EduFinder by Waystar ("EduFinder", "we", "us") collects when you use our website and services, how we use it, and the choices you have. EduFinder is operated by Waystar Learning, Inc., a Delaware corporation. If you have any questions, email us at edufinder@waystarlearning.com.
Who We Are
EduFinder by Waystar is an online platform offering AI-assisted college admissions guidance tools for students, and AI-assisted grading, curriculum-planning, and recommendation-letter tools for teachers and counselors. The service is operated by Waystar Learning, Inc., a Delaware corporation. You can reach us about any privacy matter at edufinder@waystarlearning.com.
Information We Collect
We collect only what we need to provide the service.
Account Information
When you create an account or sign in, we collect your email address and basic profile details such as your name. If you sign in with Google, we receive this information from Google (see "Signing in with Google" below).
Content You Submit
To generate your personalized results, you provide information through our tools. Depending on the tool, this can include survey answers, essays and writing samples, academic and profile details, practice-test responses, and, for teachers, scanned student work submitted for grading and, when a teacher assigns writing to be typed online, the text students type into the assignment page.
It also includes what you write to Leonardo, EduFinder's AI: your conversations with it on any hub, which Start Over erases at once and which are otherwise erased 30 days after they were written, leaving only a dated record with no words in it so message limits can still be counted; the lines in your notebook, including the ones Leonardo files from your private conversations with it unless you pause its note-taking, each of which you can edit or delete (deleting a line erases it at once, along with every earlier wording an edit kept, and you can also delete one earlier wording on its own, or the whole notebook without deleting your account); and any question you ask Leonardo in a Team room, which every member of that room can read.
Online Assignments (for Teachers)
When a teacher collects typed answers through a private assignment link, we save the student's draft as they write, along with general writing-activity information for that page, such as when it was opened, time spent writing, and typing activity. We share that information with the teacher who assigned the work. On links a teacher created since July 2026, the student signs in with their own EduFinder account to open the assignment, the first account to open a link is tied to it, and the teacher sees that account's email address; links created before then work through the private link alone. This information is deleted with the teacher's grading job or account, and the tie between a link and a student's account is removed when that student deletes their account.
Membership Billing Information
When you subscribe to the Pro Membership, your name, email address, billing address, and card details are entered with and held by a PCI-compliant payment processor. Those payment details are never received or stored on our servers. What we keep is the record that decides your access: the processor's customer identifier, your subscription identifier, its status, and the dates the membership was paid through, renews, or ends.
Usage Information
We use first-party analytics only. We record basic events such as page views and steps in the subscribe flow. For an account without a membership, we also count the free runs, messages, and practice tests it has used; those counts hold no content and are deleted with the account. For a visitor who is not signed in, these are linked only to a random anonymous identifier that your browser stores in local storage; for a signed-in member, events your account triggers are linked to your account. We do not store your IP address, we do not fingerprint your device, and we use no third-party advertising or tracking services.
Signing In with Google
If you choose "Continue with Google", Google shares your email address and basic profile information (such as your name) with us. We use this information only to create your EduFinder account and sign you in. We do not request or access any other Google data, such as your contacts, calendar, Drive, or Gmail. Our use of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
How We Use Your Information
- To provide the services, including generating your reports, plans, and other guidance from the information you submit.
- To bill your membership.
- To send you account and transactional messages, and, if you opt in, our newsletter (you can unsubscribe at any time).
- To secure, maintain, troubleshoot, and improve the service.
- To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.
How Your Information Is Shared
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers that help us run the service, and only as needed for them to do their work on our behalf. These providers fall into the following categories:
- Payment Processing, to bill your membership.
- Cloud Hosting and Database, to run the website and securely store your account and content.
- AI Processing, to turn the information you submit into your personalized results.
- Email Delivery, to send account, transactional, and newsletter messages.
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect the rights or safety of EduFinder or its users, or in connection with a business transfer. Each provider acts on our instructions and is permitted to use your information only to provide its service to us.
AI Processing of Your Content
Several tools send the information you submit to third-party AI providers so they can generate your results. We send only what is needed to produce the output you requested. The provider returns the result to us, and we display it to you and store it with your account.
Leonardo is EduFinder's AI. Your conversations with it are processed this way, and when it is called into a Team room it is given only what has been posted in that room. When a teacher or counselor asks Leonardo about a student on their own account, it is given only what that educator's account can already see, including what a student's link shares with them, and its answer is kept with the educator's account until the educator presses Start Over or 30 days after it was written, whichever comes first. An answer Leonardo gave a counselor while reading a student's records through their link is erased sooner, when that link ends from either side or the student deletes their account. Every answer is deleted with the educator's account.
Cookies and Local Storage
We use a single essential cookie to keep you signed in. When you open an invite link, we set one more essential cookie for thirty days that holds only the invite code, so the invite is recognized if you create an account; the friend who invited you sees only how many people joined, never who. We use your browser's local storage to hold the anonymous analytics identifier described above and, in some tools, to autosave your draft so you do not lose your work. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, so we do not show a cookie consent banner.
Data Retention
We keep your account information and the content you submit for as long as your account is active, and as long as we need it to provide the service and meet legal and accounting obligations. You can ask us to delete your account at any time. Conversations with Leonardo are the exception: Start Over erases one at once, anything left is erased 30 days after it was written, and a notebook line you delete is erased at once. When a family or counselor link ends, from either side, what it carried is erased: the private messages between the two people it linked and, on a counselor link, the counselor's notes, transcript audits and sign-offs about the student, and what Leonardo told the counselor while reading the student's records through that link.
Your Choices and Rights
You can request access to, correction of, a copy of, or deletion of your personal information by emailing edufinder@waystarlearning.com from the address on your account. When you delete your account, the content tied to it is deleted along with it, and so is everything your family and counselor links carried, on both sides. You can unsubscribe from the newsletter using the link in any newsletter email.
Children's Privacy
EduFinder is intended for students preparing for college and for teachers, not for young children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will remove it.
International Users
Waystar Learning, Inc. is a Delaware corporation, and our team and our service providers may access and process your information from outside the United States, including South Korea. By using the service, you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than where you live.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Significant changes may also be announced on our site.
