This Privacy Policy explains what personal information EduFinder by Waystar ("EduFinder", "we", "us") collects when you use our website and services, how we use it, and the choices you have. Who we are
EduFinder by Waystar is an online platform offering AI-assisted college admissions guidance tools for students, and an AI-assisted grading tool for teachers. The service is operated by Waystar Learning, based in Seoul, South Korea. You can reach us about any privacy matter at edufinder@waystarlearning.com.
Information we collect
We collect only what we need to provide the service.
Account information
When you create an account or sign in, we collect your email address and basic profile details such as your name. If you sign in with Google, we receive this information from Google (see "Signing in with Google" below).
Content you submit
To generate your personalized results, you provide information through our tools. Depending on the tool, this can include survey answers, essays and writing samples, academic and profile details, practice-test responses, and, for teachers, scanned student work submitted for grading.
Payment information
Purchases are processed by our third-party payment processor. Your card or payment-account details are entered with that processor and are never received or stored on our servers. We keep a record of the purchase, such as the order identifier, amount, and date, so we can deliver what you bought.
Usage information
We use first-party analytics only. We record basic events such as page views and steps in the purchase flow, linked to a random anonymous identifier that your browser stores in local storage. We do not store your IP address, we do not fingerprint your device, and we use no third-party advertising or tracking services.
Signing in with Google
If you choose "Continue with Google", Google shares your email address and basic profile information (such as your name) with us. We use this information only to create your EduFinder account and sign you in. We do not request or access any other Google data, such as your contacts, calendar, Drive, or Gmail. Our use of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
How we use your information
- To provide the services, including generating your reports, plans, and other guidance from the information you submit.
- To process your purchases.
- To send you account and transactional messages, and, if you opt in, our newsletter (you can unsubscribe at any time).
- To secure, maintain, troubleshoot, and improve the service.
- To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.
How your information is shared
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers that help us run the service, and only as needed for them to do their work on our behalf. These providers fall into the following categories:
- Payment processing, to take payment.
- Cloud hosting and database, to run the website and securely store your account and content.
- AI processing, to turn the information you submit into your personalized results.
- Email delivery, to send account, transactional, and newsletter messages.
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect the rights or safety of EduFinder or its users, or in connection with a business transfer. Each provider acts on our instructions and is permitted to use your information only to provide its service to us.
AI processing of your content
Several tools send the information you submit to third-party AI providers so they can generate your results. We send only what is needed to produce the output you requested. The provider returns the result to us, and we display it to you and store it with your account.
Cookies and local storage
We use a single essential cookie to keep you signed in. We use your browser's local storage to hold the anonymous analytics identifier described above and, in some tools, to autosave your draft so you do not lose your work. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, so we do not show a cookie consent banner.
Data retention
We keep your account information and the content you submit for as long as your account is active, and as long as we need it to provide the service and meet legal and accounting obligations. You can ask us to delete your account at any time.
Your choices and rights
You can request access to, correction of, a copy of, or deletion of your personal information by emailing edufinder@waystarlearning.com from the address on your account. When you delete your account, the content tied to it is deleted along with it. You can unsubscribe from the newsletter using the link in any newsletter email.
Children's privacy
EduFinder is intended for students preparing for college and for teachers, not for young children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will remove it.
International users
We operate from South Korea, and our service providers may process your information in other countries. By using the service, you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than where you live.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Significant changes may also be announced on our site.
