Who We Are

The story behind EduFinder, and why it exists now.

Who we are

EduFinder, built by Waystar Learning.

EduFinder is nine services with one purpose: help a student do the real work of getting into a strong US college, and help the teachers who grade that work do theirs. Six services form a single path from ninth grade to the final aid form. Three more are built for teachers and professors.

When someone uses a tool here, the result is specific: a practice test with explanations, a matched school list, a data-backed odds report, an essay angle, an AP plan, a graded rubric. Not general advice, but a next move you can act on.

Why now

AI is raising the bar, not lowering it.

AI will shape nearly every student now in high school or college. Some read that as permission to study less; some fear it will take the future they are preparing for. We think both miss the point.

Powerful tools do not remove the need for human excellence. They move it. When anyone can produce a decent result at the push of a button, what becomes scarce is a person who genuinely understands the work, and the trust that they do. That shift changes what students should aim for, and what teachers need to protect.

For students

Why the right school matters more, not less.

Here is the uncomfortable part. When everyone can generate similar output, the output stops being what sets people apart; the credibility of the person behind it does. You can already see this logic in the market for modern art, where a piece is priced less on the canvas than on whose name and record stand behind it.

A trusted school works the same way. A degree from a place like Harvard is valuable not only for what is learned there, but as a credible signal that its holder can be relied on, exactly the kind of signal that grows scarce and valuable when output itself is cheap. So the answer to the AI era is not to study less. It is to study hard, and with the right strategy, so you build genuine ability and earn credible proof of it. That is what the six-service path is for.

For teachers

Grading has to change, so teaching can stay human.

If a take-home essay can be produced by a chatbot in seconds, a grade on it no longer tells you what a student actually knows. That is not a reason to fear AI. It is a reason to redesign how we measure learning, so genuine achievement still shows through.

Our three teacher tools do exactly that. The Syllabus! Planner drafts a full curriculum with an AI-resistant assessment plan anchored to your standards. The Rubric! Studio grades in-class, handwritten work, including math and diagrams, against your own rubric, quickly and consistently, with your final say on every grade. The Letter! Desk turns a recommender's real anecdotes into a grounded recommendation-letter draft with a candid coaching read, so every student gets a letter only their teacher could have written. By taking the mechanical weight off assessment and paperwork, they free instructors for the work only a human can do: building the best possible materials, and helping each student grow in courage, faith, and empathy. That is how today's students become tomorrow's pioneers.

Where we are

Built in Seoul, made for students applying to US colleges.

Seoul is one of the world's most demanding college-prep markets. We build EduFinder close to families, tutors, and academies that treat test scores, school lists, and essays as work that must hold up under pressure.

That context shapes the product. The site turns serious prep methods into plain-English tools for students and families preparing for US colleges, in the US and abroad, especially when they do not have a private counselor beside them.

How we know it works

Tested in classrooms before it ships.

Our team has spent years teaching high school students at U.S. boarding schools, U.K. public schools, and Korean international schools. EduFinder comes from the questions, mistakes, and decisions we saw students face again and again.

The question banks, shortlist logic, admissions reads, AP plans, and essay prompts were shaped through real student use, and more recently the grading rubrics, curricula, and recommendation letters were shaped with teachers, then rewritten whenever a step confused someone or failed to produce a useful next move.

How we build

Built with data, AI, and educator review.

Waystar combines educator judgment, structured data, and AI models, then reviews the output through the lens of real student decisions. AI is useful here only when it is grounded in the right questions, source material, and admissions context.

That is how EduFinder handles practice questions, school matching, admissions reads, AP planning, essay coaching, and now grading and curriculum for teachers: technology can narrow the problem, but the final product has to give a student, parent, or teacher a next move they can trust.

Who it is for

For students and the people behind them.

Big decisions in education are rarely made alone. A student picks a path, but parents, siblings, mentors, teachers, and friends all help carry it.

EduFinder is built for that whole circle: the student choosing a path, the parents and mentors helping carry it, and the teachers and professors guiding the class. We try to make every tool useful whether you are the one studying, the one paying tuition, the one cheering from the sidelines, or the one grading the work.

The path

Nine services, ready to use today.

Six services form one student path, in the order you first meet them from ninth grade to senior year:

  • The Shortlist! Builder picks the schools worth chasing.
  • The Resolve! Planner builds a counselor-ready AP plan you can defend.
  • The Challenge! Series is practice that feels like the real Digital SAT.
  • The Pursuit! Atlas turns you into a profile, not a to-do list.
  • The Roster! Board carries one profile from a dated chance read through the full college list, every application, and essay coaching that never writes a word for you.
  • The Aid! Playbook files the aid forms without the costly mistakes.

Three more are built for the classroom: The Rubric! Studio for AI-assisted grading, The Syllabus! Planner for AI-resistant curricula, and The Letter! Desk for grounded recommendation letters. Each tool gives a concrete output, not just advice, and we keep improving them around what students, families, and teachers need most.

Our mascot

Meet the EduFinder koala.

Koalas know something about pacing: they put real energy into what matters, then rest without guilt so they can keep going. That balance of effort and genuine rest is the spirit we want EduFinder to carry.

As Bertrand Russell wrote, "Leisure is essential to civilization." Work hard on the decision in front of you, then step back and let your best ideas arrive. You will spot our little koala around the site as a quiet reminder to do both.

Start here

Start wherever you are on the path.

Whether you are choosing your first classes in ninth grade or filing aid forms in twelfth, the student home walks the whole path step by step. Teachers have a home of their own: plan the course, grade the work, and write the letters, in that order.
